With increasing numbers of people researching companies, products, services and other people online, (and essentially starting the sales funnel journey), you must be active on social media and be known in your space. Otherwise, you face the number one detriment to failures worldwide. Obscurity. You have to dominate your social media. Whether you like social media or not, you have to be there, and you have to be relevant. You have to make the time to understand and make the time to use it to your advantage.
The key steps needed to dominate your social media:
Be the one people look to
Learn to use, and not be used by social media. Connect, prospect and be known as the professional for your niche market. When someone is interested in your product or service are they thinking of you? Are you in their face so much that you are the first person they think about when trying to solve a problem?
Get out there and expose yourself
Obscurity is a huge problem. If people dont know who you are, they cannot do business with you. If people don’t know who you are or know about your products, they wont buy from you. If people dont know who you are and are ready to buy and can buy, they arent going to buy from you. Obscurity is the number one reason why companies fail. Be the first in the clients mind. Dominate.
Be a user and abuser
Use the mediums and don’t let the mediums use you. Make sure ‘they’ dont forget about you. Become the dominant player in your space to sell more of your product or services. Show what you have to offer. Be the helpful guide. Answer questions. Show and tell.
Social Media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, among others) are free to use! So use them! Make them work for you!
Get out there on a regular basis, be interesting, become interested in people, and keep on being interesting.
Where is the first place people go to complain? Social media. Be there. Be current. Be relative. Show you care.
Step on the heads of the competition
Your customers are online – you know that – it is important for you to be online managing your online reputation and staying helpful and informative and as part of the conversation if you want to stay relative in this marketplace. Break out of obscurity.
